Who can celebrate Valentines Day without their own massive cookie...for breakfast?! We can't! I found a large heart shaped pan (specifically made for cookies, - just a very shallow cake pan essentially), and thought that it would be so fun to surprise the kids on Valentines morning...and further the surprise by allowing them to eat it right away...or a portion of it, they are really really big! My first time trying this recipe, and WOW, it tastes JUST LIKE a massive cookie-o-gram, or whatnot. You can make your own on a cookie sheet (for a rectangle), or a round cookie sheet for a circle and it would be perfect. This pan holds the equivalent to a 9x13 recipe - a regular round cookie sheet or normal sized rectangle would be approximately the same size. Surprise someone on their birthday (or other occasion) with a giant yummy cookie. Your day is guaranteed to be perfect if it starts off like this!

I tinted some icing with pink and added some love:-) |
The only tip I have is do not over bake! Mine took exactly 15 minutes and are the perfect consistency. Let cool in the pan as long as they suggest, also.
1/2 C butter, softened
1/2 C white sugar
1/4 C brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 t vanilla extract
1 1/2 C all purpose flour
1/4 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1/2 C semi sweet chocolate chips (or I used Valentines M&M's)
Preheat oven to 350. Spray pan with vegetable spray. In large bowl, beat butter with sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread dough into prepared pan. Bake 15-20 mins or until light golden brown. Cook on rack 5 mins. Remove from pan. Cool completely before cutting or decorating. Makes 8-10 servings.
