1 chocolate cake mix (do not mix according to pkg directions, only use ingredients in recipe)
1 can cherry pie filling
1 t almond flavouring
2 beaten eggs
Stir all ingredients well by hand. Bake in greased 9x13 pan at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
That's it! Just stir it all up! |
1 C heavy cream
8 oz (which is 8 squares Bakers chocolate) Semi-Sweet chocolate, finely chopped
Heat cream on stove top whisking until warm/hot (do not let boil). Add chopped chocolate and whisk until melted and smooth. Pour over cake before it's completely cooled (doesn't have to be right out of the oven hot, but still warm...within 10-20 mins after removing from oven)
It's so shiny and beautiful!! |
IT IS THE VERY BEST! I can remember my Mom getting this recipe and now it goes on from generation to generation!
ReplyDeleteI have to say actually that even though I am still a cherry hater, even I can appreciate this cake! I also use the recipe for the glaze for on top for other cakes - it takes a banana cake to a whole new level!
ReplyDeleteTry the ganache on a banana cake! It would be *heaven*, I tell you! Sooo good. This is my birthday cake this year, and I can't wait to consume it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Lauryn, definitely not a big *canned* cherry fan, but this cake is delish!! :)
