Muckross (pronounced Muckris) Abbey is in the now Killarney National Park. It was a Franciscan friary from 1448. It is fairly well preserved as far as ruins go. It is not accessible by car, only walking in, and walk, we did. The signage is vague at best. They just sort of wave off in the approximate distance and say "it's over there" or something as specific as "300m this way". When by all that, they meant 4km in the opposite direction. We walked and walked and walked. Whew.
A Yew tree, planted in the center courtyard.
