Ireland - Allihies and Killarney

Part of the Ring of Beara is to go down to Allihies Beach. The weather turned on us, and it rained quite hard for the rest of the day. And then we discovered - Ireland is great for rocks and cliffs, but it has quite the shortage of sandy beaches. So what they point out as a "wow! look at this beach!" only means, if you've ever been on the east coast - is that there is some sand and swimming. To us, who live on the Atlantic coast, and have been to Florida - haha! We have significantly better beaches on the American side of things. Once we realized this, we stopped going out of our way to see anything beach related. To us, not worth it. Now if you're living in the middle of the Canadian prairies, than it's likely a good beach to you, too. But if you want a good beach, may I recommend Myrtle Beach? Or anywhere in Florida? Even our own Virginia Beach is not so bad. Ireland has it's own amazing things to see and points of beauty, and beaches are just not topping the list in our opinion.

This driving day was the worst and hardest. These roads we bad! We gave up on further sightseeing on the Ring of Beara (raining much too hard to want to get out of the car) and headed to Killarney for the night.

Look what we found in Killarney! We stayed in towns always, so we could walk around. So lovely. We had a great location and wandered into town and felt like Thai.

Second best Thai food we've ever had. It was amazing in every way. Best was on our honeymoon in the Muskoka's of Ontario, a recent immigrant made food in the back of an antique store. It was out of this world, and this came in a close 2nd.

This dish contained "pea aubergine" on the menu. It was zucchini...aubergine is eggplant, a kind of squash, and peas are green...so green zucchini? haha!
