Nails

Last Sunday I did her nails purple, and 30 minutes later she comes to me, nail polish all scratched off, and says "now red?"...Sorry, no time before church! This was the redo yesterday, on our 'manicure table', which is my miss/matched sock bin.

He wanted a picture too. He usually does. He has such a great smile.

Some angry jabbering. I would not let him touch the camera.

Sponge Bob

Say Fah-Bob-Queer-Pats pretty fast...that's how Kenna says Sponge Bob Square Pants. She likes to mention that "Daddy doesn't like Fah Bob Queer Pats. We can't watch Fah Bob, Daddy doesn't like it. We are not-tallowed" and on and on she goes every time she sees a commercial or a toy or whatever. That is a new thing for her too "Mom, I need ask you a quish-in (question). Are we allowed or not-tallowed?"

Some beautiful pics

A shout out for Kari's blog...she has some great pics! Of course I have to recommend it, because there are pictures of Logan and Brooks:-)

Drawing a Bath

Our hot water heater died...the company is sending us a replacement unit, seems we may have purchased a dud (it's a tankless system, this is our 2nd issue with it). But until it arrives...we have no hot water. Yikes. I have found if I boil 4 pots of water (at the same time, obviously) and carry them one by one to the tub, and then dilute it with cold water, it's enough for a nice hot bath that lasts about 15-20 before getting warm/cold. I need one pot to do the dishes, and about 2 for the kids bath...I really feel like a maid in Avonlea or something (Road to Avonlea, from my childhood) actually drawing my bath. It's a lot of work, I now realize why people in the olden days didn't bathe often. If it were not up to societal norms I would just wait until it rained, personally. Haha, I suppose that would really only work in the country...I think my neighbours might have me commited:-) Brian hops in the shower for a very cold, very quick shower, but I just can't do it. So until it rains, boil I must. Life is never dull.

Laundry Results

I did lots of laundry yesterday, with my new soap. I am very impressed with the results. I think it actually does a better job than my other detergent, but just in case, I'll officially say it does an equal job:-) Everything came out very clean, with a nice scent (like light Ivory). I washed Kenna's 'very soff thing' (soft blanket), which I had been noticing was pretty dingy last time I washed it, and I was impressed at how white it was after washing it today, I really could visibly see a difference. I would definitely recommend my little project!

Not so interesting pic: My piles of laundry to put away!

Taco Soup - recipe

In my opinion, this is a perfect fall soup recipe. It's yummy and hearty and kind of fun for kids to eat with chips and cheese. My kids gobble it up! Leftovers today for lunch, and there were protests that they didn't have enough tomatoes in their bowls. Strange kids! Enjoy!

From: Pauline Beange

1 1/2lb ground beef
1/2 C onion, chopped
1 cn (28oz) tomatoes (whole or diced)
1 cn kidney beans with juice
2 C frozen corn
1 C tomato sauce
1 pkg taco seasoning
2 C water
salt & pepper to taste
grated cheese & nacho chips for serving

Brown beef and drain. Combine all ingredients except chips and cheese. If using whole tomatoes, can whir them in a blender to disguise:-) Simmer 15-30 minutes. Ladle into bowls. Top with nacho chips and grated cheese and serve with sour cream if desired.

NOTE: Different kinds of beans can be used (black turtle, navy, pinto), and ground turkey can be used. I usually only use 1 lb instead of 1 1/2 lbs.

Awesome Craft Idea

I met with a local Stampin' Up consultant to discuss the possibility of becoming a demonstrator. She gave me this little gift. I thought it was a card box...

But when I opened it I found...it's a stationary box! So cute!

She gave me the template and step-by-step directions to recreate it too! I love it.

An address book, a place for stamps, cards, tags, etc. What a cool idea! (It's just "my colours" too!)
