Recipe - Alfredo Sauce

This recipe is a delicious quick and easy favourite.
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 ounces grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Melt butter in a medium, non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Add cream cheese and garlic powder, stirring with wire whisk until smooth. Add milk, a little at a time, whisking to smooth out lumps. Stir in Parmesan and pepper. Remove from heat when sauce reaches desired consistency. Sauce will thicken rapidly, thin with milk if cooked too long. Add mushrooms and/or cooked boneless chicken breast if desired. Serve over pasta and ENJOY!

Stair Climbing Video

Since we rent out our upstairs, we have no stairs in our house, other than the front steps...and because I was pregnant, I didn't feel like getting down there and teaching Kenna how to climb them. This past weekend we moved Brian's sister, Lauren, upstairs, and much to our surprise, Kenna climbed all the way to the top, with no help! Here I am trying to get her to do a demonstration for the camera, and of course she was more interested in playing around.

4 weeks old

These were taken on May 26th. He is definitely getting bigger. Hard to believe he's 4 weeks old today (30th)...seems like we've had him forever!

First big boo boo

Kenna was attacked by a vicious pinecone this morning. It's her first scrape with blood and everything!

Footprints

Today I had an appointment back at the midwifery centre, and they put his feet on the wall. Thankfully there was still some room near Kenna's (they are connected with a vine, to show they are siblings). And also a pic of him watching his mobile, it's the first time I really saw him notice it was there.

Strong Man

I took these tonight, he will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. He has been able to hold his head up since birth but he is getting a lot stronger and has better control now.

The Brown Out

Well, we experienced a brown out on Thursday evening, which has apparently killed our computer (it won't turn on anymore)...thankfully we have an old iMac which works great for internet and everything, but of course has no Word, Excel, etc. I was able to figure out how to upload my pics on here and stuff, so that's good. I really don't know much about macs (I know, shame on me), so it's been interesting trying to figure it all out. The bummer is that I was going to print out all my birth announcements and send them off next week, so we might be a bit delayed there, until I can recreate them on this. We are hoping all our information is able to be recovered. If not, most of it was backed up, but we would lose a few recent pics, but not many, so that is good news for me!

Exhausted

Apparently, he had a hard day:-)

Brooks, 13 days old

He is now 8lbs 7oz and 22ins. He really reminds me of my brother Brent, just in the way his eyes are, and a lot of his expressions. He loves to scowl, as displayed in the first picture.

Stuck!

Kenna was supposed to be napping...and I hear a semi-frantic "stuck, stuck" from her. I was sorting clothes for Brooks, and left the laundry basket on the toybox at the foot of her crib. She helped herself to a few choice items through the railings and decided to try one on.

First Walk

Brooks first walk around the town! I didn't notice they were both not looking in my direction until just now...oops. Maybe I will have to re-create the moment and take a better shot:-)

Little Jockey

At the Hospital - Video

Here are a few clips from our time at the hospital. In the second video Kenna is showing off some of her new words and sounds, her cat sound needs a little work still!

It's a...

BOY!! Our son, Brooklyn Carson James Bolger (we call him Brooks) was born at 5:31am on May 2nd. He weighed exactly 8 lbs, and was 21 ins long. He came extremely fast, with mom having only 1.5 hours of real labour (and only 30 minutes of that was painful!). We met the midwife at the hospital at 5:00, thinking we had quite a few hours ahead of us, and as soon as we arrived things decided to speed up! We'll post some more pictures and videos soon...
